Taymouth Castle rises as a defining landmark in the heart of Scotland’s most celebrated golfing landscape, set at the gateway to the Highlands and surrounded by some of the country’s most spectacular scenery. Originally constructed in the 19th century and meticulously restored to its 1842 grandeur, the estate now sits at the centre of a world-class golf and leisure destination. Its expansive 775-acre grounds—bordered by the River Tay and framed by ancient redwood forests and dramatic mountain backdrops—provide a fitting setting for one of Britain’s most ambitious hospitality and golf resort redevelopments.

At the heart of this transformation is a new era of luxury golf, with the estate positioned to rival leading international golf resorts. From the clubhouse and arrival experience through to guest accommodation and outdoor leisure spaces, every element has been carefully designed to support an exceptional, end-to-end golf and hospitality journey.

Audio Light Systems was appointed to design and deliver a fully integrated audio and control solution in collaboration with the American ownership team. The scope included front-of-house systems, integrated AV within 11 luxury apartments, high-quality television distribution, and a centralised control platform—supporting both day-to-day operations and high-end guest experiences across the estate, including key golf hospitality environments.

Given the building’s A-listed status, all design and installation work was undertaken with the utmost sensitivity to the castle’s historic fabric. This was particularly critical in prominent guest areas, clubhouse-adjacent spaces, and heritage interiors, where discreet integration was essential to preserve the architectural integrity while delivering modern performance.

With a high-profile client and exacting expectations, precision across every stage was vital. Audio Light Systems deployed a dedicated project team to manage the process from concept through to commissioning and handover—ensuring alignment across stakeholders and a consistent level of quality throughout a complex, multi-faceted resort development.

Within each apartment, a Crestron control system provides intuitive management of music, television, lighting, climate, and blinds—creating a refined, responsive guest environment tailored to luxury golf stays and extended visits. High-performance audio solutions from Sonance and QSC further enhance the in-room experience.

Across the wider estate, including front-of-house and golf hospitality areas, discreet K-array loudspeakers deliver high-quality ambient audio with minimal visual impact. In feature spaces such as the main entrance, speakers are carefully concealed within architectural elements, including bespoke window details, maintaining the visual purity of the historic setting.

For larger-scale environments—including function suites, event spaces, and outdoor areas that support golf events, member gatherings, and resort functions—Fohhn systems provide powerful, scalable audio performance capable of supporting everything from private events to larger hospitality occasions.

The result is a cohesive, resort-wide AV and control infrastructure that enhances both operational efficiency and guest experience—from arrival through to clubhouse, course, and accommodation. It stands as a benchmark project, seamlessly integrating advanced technology within one of the UK’s most prestigious new golf and hospitality destinations.
