One of the UK’s most famous theatres, The Theatre Royal Newcastle, required an upgrade of their old assistive hearing systems to a modern Sennheiser Infra red dual channel solution. The Theatre, which is a grade 1 listed building, needed an installer with a history of work in graded buildings while also having a knowledge of technical theatre systems. Audio Light Systems were the obvious choice, providing both the workmanship and the specialist skills required to carry out such a delicate installation. 14 IR radiators were installed around the 170 year old theatre auditorium to ensure even coverage across all the seating areas. The radiators transmit via infra-red light an audio signal to the audience members headsets, giving clear audio for the hard of hearing and audio description for the visually impaired.
